chitika + Adbrite : An Google Adsense Alternative

Monday, January 18th, 2010 |

Few months back, one fine morning, one of my blogger clients sent an emergency mail. He had found his adsense account disabled. Now, I really don’t want to blame my client or google for the same. It happened and we got to live with it. I am one of the google admirers. But, the client of mine felt hurt, like most of you who got their adsense account disabled feel hurt.

He asked me for a solution that time. Frankly, even I was little perplexed on the way forward. The issue is that his content is fit for really serious folks and there is a limited way I could help him. Then something happened. I had asked all my clients for a “blog road map for 2010.” I had forwarded some blogging resources found in this site. So, he wrote back again stating that he needed to monetize. I too got out of my mental logjam and forwarded him some ad networks to register. The first one to approve him was Adbrite. Then the second one to approve him was chitika.

sponsoredreviews.com is now paying less

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 |

Sponsored Reviews sent out an email that it will pay its publishers less. The companies email reads “to increase our transaction rate by 15% from 35% to 50% (your share will now be 50% versus 65%).” Other than harping on better service/increased cost tune, they add another nugget “As it stands we currently incentize advertisers to make bulk purchases by giving them up to 20% discounts.”

The increase will take effect on January 13th, 2010. This increase will not affect previously made bids, your previous bids will continue to pay 65%.

Blogging’s goin’ nowhere, somebody help me, yeah yeah yeah, Stayin’ alive

Sunday, January 10th, 2010 |

I would like to twist “Bee Gees : Stayin’ Alive Lyrics” a tad bit:

Well, you can tell by the way I use my blog,
I’m a looser’s man—no time to talk.
Traffic is down and no one’s around, I’ve been kicked around
Since I was born.
And now it’s all right. It’s OK.
And you may look the other way.
We can try to understand
The Blogging Times’ effect on man.

A good blog

Sunday, December 20th, 2009 |

Last post I wrote on Blogging to make easy money, the online pitfall, I promised an article on the possible ways you can make a good blog which has traffic and potential to make money.

Generally, its very useful that you start a blog on subject that is close to your heart or you are the subject matter specialist. Don’t blog for the sake of making money. I started like that. I started with something that was close to my heart and ofcourse, I was a subject matter specialist on that. I did not do it to make money.

Blogging to make easy money, the online pitfall

Friday, December 18th, 2009 |

I have been accosted many a times online and offline for a share in the booty. Many a times it starts with a request to chat on my gmail. Many start without a hello, they come directly to the point. Its usually, “Hey! Do you want a writer?” Initially, I was flattered. Some of my sites have really grown.

Online or offline, every one wants to write for me. They want easy money. Every time, the story “usually’ is same. Let me tell you.

Making Money on Indian blogs

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 |

You are an India blogger having aspiration of making their money online, but, have their blogs hanging out in the blogosphere doing nothing and naturally making no money. Typically, you have added google adsense on your blogs. Google adsense for most of you either does not make money or even if it did after a long time (may be years), your account got suspended for one reason or the other. Mighty number of you have Adbrite advertising on your site which is an alternative you have learnt to live with due to either google suspending you or not approving your adsense account. A lot of Indian bloggers have applied to other ad networks, but, keep getting rejected for not having US traffic or not having traffic at all. Indian ad networks have not come up to the standards. Some Indian ad networks I looked into had insurance, or car sale or airline ticket sale advertisements. Obviously no point adding them.

This article, I am not going to talk about how your blog should be, or how it should be maintained. I will leave that for another day. I will concentrate upon what could be the options of earning the revenue. I would like to know what your opinions are, I have opened up the comments on this article.

Alexa ranks

Thursday, March 27th, 2008 |

The growth of frontierindia.net has been encouraging. It touched Alexa Rank of 193,465 few days back. I opened this news source during April 2007. Eight months back, when I applied for some adserving companies, frontierindia.net ranking was not what it is now. So, naturally, the urge to figure out what was alexa ranking about?

Alexa.com (since April 1996) is a Amazon company, say’s the website. Among other things Alexa Site Information is an database of information about sites that includes statistics, related links and more. Is Alexa perfect model?

Content Management System for a beginner

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007 |

I used to work for an IT – Web development company in the Business Development department. Hardware, software or concepts, I was the king. My interest in defence and strategic issues led me to book abcxyx.com domain. Thats when all my troubles started.

I had no working knowledge of HTML. A lot of friends pitched in. But the question of sustained publication came into issue. HTML was not the solution. Microsoft technologies are not for the cost minded people. It is ok for large enterprises. Buying a windows web server package was costly too. I had little knowledge of php mysql.

Alternative to Google Adsense

Monday, October 8th, 2007 |

If you have been rejected or banned or not accepted by Google Adsense. If you are a non-US , non-Europe small website owner, you have many other possibilities but none as good as Google Adsense. I have not tried Yahoo or MSN programs, as they are not yet available in my part of the world. I have tried most of the alternatives and finally settled on 3 possible alternatives.

Before that, take time to register your website with Alexa . Your Alexa rankings are as useful as Google rankings. I registered my website with Alexa even before I knew what it was for. All these advertising programs link to Alexa to figure out your traffic. It will take Alexa a while to show your rankings, so don’t get panicky.

The first alternative is Adbrite . It is closest to Google Adsense as far as the advertisement availability is concerned.

The second alternative is Oxado . Oxado has late loading, sometime 20 seconds. But it will not affect your website loading. It pays in Euros.

The third alternative is Text Link Ads . If you have a wordpress blog, then it is easy.

I have tried others, its unprofessional to name them. But if you need to ask about a program, register and comment here.
